ECD services in Uganda are largely funded by the private sector and civil society, with limited public investment. Out of 4.6 million children aged 3–5, about 3.86 million lack access to quality ECD services, and gross enrolment in licensed centres remains low. The AfriChild Centre is undertaking a needs assessment on the availability and gaps in ECCE services across Madi Okollo, Terego, Kampala, and Isingiro, including understanding parent/community demand for parent-supported ECCE services and youth interest in working in the ECCE sector and its broader ecosystem.
